Estimating your dividend income before you invest is one of the most useful things you can do as an income investor. This free dividend income calculator lets you project your annual and monthly dividend payments based on your investment amount, dividend yield, and expected dividend growth rate.
You can also toggle DRIP (Dividend Reinvestment Plan) to see how reinvesting your dividends compounds your returns over time
This calculator is for educational purposes only and does not constitute financial advice. Results are estimates based on constant yield and growth assumptions. Actual dividend payments may vary. Past performance does not guarantee future results.
How to Use This Calculator
Investment Amount: Enter the total dollar amount you plan to invest in dividend stocks or ETFs.
Dividend Yield: Enter the average dividend yield of your portfolio. For example, a stock priced at $100 that pays $4 per year has a 4% yield.
Annual Dividend Growth Rate: Enter the rate at which you expect dividends to grow each year. Dividend Aristocrats have historically grown dividends at 5–8% annually.
Investment Period: Enter how many years you plan to hold the investment.
DRIP (Reinvest Dividends): When enabled, dividends are automatically reinvested each year, compounding your returns significantly over time.
What Is a Realistic Dividend Yield?
Most diversified dividend ETFs yield between 1.5% and 4%. High-yield individual stocks may offer 5–8%, but higher yields often come with higher risk. A sustainable yield in the 3–5% range is generally considered a healthy starting point for income-focused investors.
Why Dividend Growth Rate Matters
A stock that pays a 3% yield today but grows its dividend at 7% per year will double its payout in roughly 10 years. This is why dividend growth investing — not just chasing the highest yield — is the strategy preferred by long-term income investors.
